We have been invited to paint during the festivities at State Fair Park  on Sept 26th! Three things are happening on that day:

Wow...I've been waiting for this and never dreamed these trees could bloom on our regular paint day! So we will be going to The Hunger Task Force Farm (http://www.hungertaskforce.org/the-farm/) once again for our open paint day.

You can get there earlier but we will start at 8AM and paint till noon.

Bring your own lunch and we will eat lunch and critique together at noon.

Open Paint November 23rd: Thompson Residence Ashippun WI

Mark your calendars and plan on coming to the annual paintout at the Thompson home and area in Ashippun (southeast Dodge County)! One change: the 4th Saturday is the weekend before Thanksgiving this year! It is our last shindig of 2013! All are welcome!

Also...guess who is turning 60!! Yup...me! Can't think of a better way to celebrate than painting with my friends! (no gifts!) I'm making a cake!

Located 8 miles north of Oconomowoc on Hwy 67 the area offers much fodder for painting plein air!! As always we will begin at 8AM (you can come earlier but the coffee won't be on till 8!) As is tradition I will be making a big pot of homemade soup for our lunch/critique at noon! I would love an e-mail or Facebook post to let me know how many will come so I can plan accordingly. Bring either some good bread, some fruit, cheese or a treat to share!!

October 26th Open Paint Day: Horicon Marsh!

September 28th Open Paint: Retzer Nature Center Waukesha

September's Open Paint will be at Retzer Nature Center on Sept 28th from 8am-noon. Noon till 1pm critique/lunch (bring you own lunch) This time of year the place is loaded with wildflowers and signs of autumn...it's beautiful! All are welcome!

Retzer Nature Center is located just west of the City of Waukesha, WI.

Directions from downtown Waukesha: proceed west on Madison St., past the Hwy TT intersection nearly to the end at Hwy DT. Retzer is the last property on Madison St. on the left (south) side of Madison St.

August 24th WIPAPA Open Paint Day Monona Terrace...Madison

Open to all!

WIPAPA's August 24th paint day brings us right into downtown Madison Wisconsin!! We will meet at 8am to paint. We will park right at the Terrace Parking lot and make way to wherever you wish to paint. The Farmers Market around the square is one of the largest in the state and would offer plenty of plein air fodder. We will meet on the Terrace for critique at noon...as always bring your own lunch!!

April 27th Open Paint Day: Monches Perennial Farm

Monches Perennial Farm is one of my favorite place to be.I can't believe it's been over a year since we painted there. We will meet at 8AM and paint till noon when we will meet for critique/lunch. Bring your own lunch.

Oct. 27th! WIPAPA Open paint Day: Horicon Marsh

October 27th WIPAPA open paint day: 

Horicon Marsh!!

Open to all members and non-members!!! Come paint with us!!

When: As early as 7AM on October 27th till noon

Where: We will meet at the Horicon Marsh International Education Center (N7725 Hwy 28, Horicon) at noon for critique. I will be painting around there starting early. However...the marsh is a beautiful 33,000 acres and you may paint wherever you wish...just meet us at noon!!! Lunch: Bring your own and eat while we critique. 

I know this is a bit of a drive for you but believe me it is worth it!! Find a carpool buddy! The Marsh is magical this time of year!! See you there! Pray for one of those great warm late October days!!!

August 25th WIPAPA Open Paint Day: Two Options!

On August 25th for our monthly open paint day we have two options!

First, Kathleen Dangelo has been kind enough to offer us her beautiful property near New Glarus WI. Here is what she has written me:

"I am very excited about the plein air painting event at my home on Saturday, August 25.  I would like to make a full day event for those who may be able to only come at certain times, etc.  People can show up at dawn if they like, and we can propose a potluck lunch.  My husband and I will provide grilled meats and drinks.  Everyone else can bring a dish to pass.  The day can go until sundown or longer as far as I'm concerned.  I will also invite the new Madison area WIPAPA group, artists I know from WVA and Driftless Area Artists.  Hopefully, we will have good painting weather and lots of time for conversation and critique. 

My address is N7584 Marshall Bluff Road, Monticello, WI, 53570 (approx. 4 miles from New Glarus or about a half hour southwest of Madison).

 

 

Directions from New Glarus: I am approximately 4-5 miles south of New Glarus.  Continue past New Glarus on Hwy. 69.  Go up the big hill.  Of note, the New Glarus Brewery will be on your left halfway up the hill. 

 

You will be turning just past the crest of the hill (curves near the top) on the second road to the left which is Exeter Crossing Road.  The first road is Valley View near the top and Exeter Crossing Road will be a very short distance beyond that.  (The road on the top of the hill to the right is the New Glarus State Park.)  After turning left onto Exeter Crossing, continue on this road until it comes to a “T” intersection (approx. 2-3 miles).  (The only road you will see before this is Wettach Road to the left, but do not turn on to it.) 

 

At the “T” intersection, Exeter Crossing turns to the left and Marshall Bluff Road turns to the right.  Turn right and proceed approximately one-quarter mile to my driveway (woods on both sides of the road).  The fire number is N7584 (on the sign next to the driveway).  The driveway is the third one on the left after turning onto Marshall Bluff.  You will also go over a bike trail before getting to my driveway.The driveway is one-half mile.  Just stay on the gravel and follow the utility poles along the edge of the field to the end.  Our house (a geodesic dome) will be visible after turning the last curve. April 28th Open Paint Day: Dooryard Gallery Elm Grove!!

Mark your calenders for our next open paint day April 28th! We will meet at the Dooryard Gallery...890 Elm Grove rd, Elm Grove (262-780-8778) at 8am. We will paint till noon and then gather back at the Gallery for critique! As always bring your own lunch!! See you there!!!

WIPAPA Open paint Day February 25th Wisconsin Automotive Museum!!!

Oh BOY!!! Hope you like this one! We will be painting in Hartford at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum connected to the Schauer Art Center at 147 N Rural St on Saturday Feburary 25th!!! Will will be able to get in at 10am and can stay till close if you like. Bring a dropcloth!!!!We will take a break for lunch (bring your own) and critique at 1pm. Admission is normally $10 but I have negotiated the exchange of some of my art for free admission for you!! This museum has hundreds of classic cars in a striking art deco interior and as if that were not enough it has a whole Steam Locomotive...yes a whole one!!! I can't wait! See you there...Wendie

November 5th Painting opportunity at the Lynden Sculpture Garden

EVENTS Saturday, November 5, 2011 – noon-5 pm Get Out and Paint!: A Plein Air Day at Lynden It’s time to pull on the fingerless gloves, pack up the pencils, pastels and paints, and make art en plein air! Children, families, amateurs and professionals are invited to set up an easel or board on the grounds and capture Lynden in the media of their choice. We will provide hot cider and cookies; should the weather prove truly daunting, we will try to accommodate artmakers at strategic indoor viewing posts. New to the joys of making art outdoors? The art studio will be plein air central: drop in during the afternoon for pointers and check out a watercolor kit to take outside. Dress for the weather, bring a seat and consider an umbrella.

WIPAPA October 22nd Open Paint Day!!! Okauchee Lake!!

Hey all!! We ave been invited to paint at Paul Schultz's beautiful lake property on Okauchee Lake on Saturday October 22nd. As always we will meet at 8AM and paint till noon after which we will critique. Bring you own lunch! Reminder: 2012 dues are due!!!

There is a parking lot at the driveway as well as other parking if we need it. The mailbox has the name of Mulligan on it.
