Master the Unique Challenges of Painting in Watercolor in the Open Air Each location, whether foggy seacoast, windy mountaintop, or dry sunny desert, presents it own climate, which directly affects your paint and paper. Learn how to manage washes, hard and soft edges, and work spontaneously to capture the scene, as you judge the moisture content of your paper and hone your sense of timing in laying down paint. The watercolor process seems custom made to capture effects of light and atmosphere, from the lightest tints to the most saturated shadows. Frank's goal for you in this five-day, in-depth class is for you to "grow in confidence...your work flips, and goes from being Technique-Driven to being Observation-Driven. Reacting spontaneously to nature is your birthright as an artist. Don't trade it for some dubious formulas or techniques on how to paint things. I believe that a good painting class really begins at four o'clock on the final day. My goal is to put you on a path that is self-sustaining, where an ever-increasing visual understanding will drive your painting process.
